Last night (July 10) with the sun setting the first evening of Somerset House’s Summer Series, a perfect backdrop for the band honoured with opening this ten day extravaganza of music, Daughter.
Daughter were truly excellent, slick and cool and seemingly struggling to comprehend that they were actually playing the event. While the band’s music isn’t as energetic as maybe some people strive for, that’s not what this band is about, their music suits them perfectly and why change their winning formula.
In some ways the size and stature of the venue outshone the band, at times it felt like a more intimate venue would have been more appropriate for Daughter rather than a crowd of 3000. Although their music still managed to pull me in, performing EP favourites such as Love and Candles, offering a captivating the audience with intoxicating ambience and putting any doubts in my mind to the side.
At the weekend Lights Out managed to drag themselves to Hyde Park to see a couple of boybands perform a small gig… Someone on the line up we’d never tire of seeing is definitely Scouting for Girls, and they didn’t disappoint this time either. Check out our exclusive pictures of the band’s performance below:
